FAQ

We understand you might have a lot of questions. If you don't see your question answered here, feel free to reach out directly.

  • How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically scheduled for 1 hour, but they can also be shorter, depending on your preferences, availability, and needs.
  • What can I expect with my first session?
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. You will complete an intake form and explore your goals for therapy.
  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're struggling, feeling stuck, or just want a space to explore your thoughts and feelings, therapy may be helpful. We’ll collaborate to make sure this is a good fit for you. We can also explore other options if you don't feel like it's a good fit or if another provider would better meet your needs.
  • How often will we meet?
Sessions are typically scheduled once every week or once every 2 weeks, depending on your needs and preferences.
  • Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! I offer a free 15 minute consultation to answer any questions you have and see if I'll be a good fit for you.
  • Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
I offer both virtual and in-person sessions.
  • What issues do you specialize in?
I specialize in trauma, complex PTSD, domestic violence, dissociation, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, and mood disorders. I use approaches like EMDR, somatic, DBT, CBT, ACT, and ego state therapy to support healing and growth.
  • Do you see individuals, couples, or families?
At this time, I only work with adults (18+) in individual therapy.
  • How do I schedule a session?
You can contact me directly through the scheduling/portal link to schedule a session or consultation. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
  • What’s your availability?
I offer sessions from 9am to 6pm Sunday through Thursday. I’ll let you know if I have a waitlist or limited openings.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a late cancellation fee.
  • What are your rates?
My fee is $110 per 60-minute session. If finances are a concern, we can talk about sliding scale options.
  • Do you take insurance?
Yes, I accept Medicaid. I also accept UHC, Cigna, Aetna, Kaiser, and BCBS through Headway. If I’m not in-network with your insurance, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.
  • Do you offer sliding scale sessions?
I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss this.
  • What are your qualifications?
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado, with advanced training in trauma, dissociation, and evidence-based treatments. I’m committed to ongoing learning and inclusive, affirming care for all clients.
  • What if I’m nervous about opening up?
That’s totally okay. You get to share at your own pace. Building trust takes time, and I’ll be here every step of the way.
  • What if I don’t feel like it’s a good fit?
Therapy works best when there’s a good connection. If you don’t feel like I’m the right fit, I’ll support you in finding someone who is. No hard feelings. Your healing comes first.
  • Is what I say in therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us, with a few exceptions related to safety. These include if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law (such as mandatory reporting for abuse of a minor, elder, or dependent adult).
  • What should I do in a crisis?
If you’re in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For non-emergency mental health support, you can contact: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988 Crisis Text Line – Text HOME to 741741 The Lighthouse through DiversusHealth, Peak View, or Cedar Springs if you live in Colorado Springs.
